Marco Island’s Jeff Caruso was crowned king and Victoria Howard queen as part of the Lely Homecoming festivities on the weekend.
They were crowned by Marco’s Maddie Childs, 2007 homecoming queen and Lely Principal Ken Fairbanks.
They were introduced with the Homecoming Court at half time of Lely football game.
Members of the court included seniors Gally Delphonse, Jeff Charelus, Melissa Joseph, James Michaud, Felipe Reyes, Kiley Stoll and Marco’s Halley Krestchmer and Keith Wilkie; juniors Maria Pollara of Marco and A.J. Ryder; sophomores Oriny Dera and Patrick Telusnord and freshmen Jessica Noel and Hayden Hanscom, both of Marco.
The Lely marching band, led by Jay Dillon and the Lely ROTC honor guard, commanded by Capt. John Cherralus, Majors Gina Young, Sarah Stacey and Captains Amanda Gates and Ariel Ferreria and Maj. Romina Robles, formed up for the court.
In the annual Powderpuff football contests, the sophomores beat the juniors and the seniors downed the freshmen. In the championship game the sophomores fell one yard short of scoring, losing to the seniors, 7 -0.
