Five months ago Collier County government opened a new waste/recycle facility on East Elkcam. They constructed a reasonably handsome building, given its purpose, nicely landscaped and complete with a guestimate of 200-plus feet of concrete sidewalk fronting some 4,000 square feet of freshly laid grass sod. Cost of sidewalk and grass, unknown (to me) but substantial.
This week our city government came along and ripped out the new county sidewalk and grass to install drainage on East Elkcam. My point? Surely this latter project was indeed a planned event and that someone in our city could have told the county to wait six months before installing their sidewalk and sod?
I guess we’ve gained a side benefit from the facility that allows for government waste to be recycled into tax bills.

How about the big expensive aluminum bridge they just put in at Mackle park over the finger lake they just filled in. On the plus side you will now save 30 seconds when walking around the park if you take to new bridge.
