Marco Island Taxpayers Association was formed for the betterment of our community through the wise use of our taxpayer dollars. Any city which uses sound fiscal policies will thrive and be able to meet its obligations to the citizens it serves by providing those basic services and will enhance the quality of life for its residents.
MITA believes it is important that our city management adheres to letter and intent of our city charter and makes sure that our city leaders are mindful of our spending cap; a very important part of the charter. It was only after it was added to the charter that we became a city and it is very important to the majority of the people who our city leaders represent.
Our past and present board members have spent many hours in attending meetings, doing research, and closely examining some of the funds our city has collected to determine whether they were fairly structured and implemented in accordance with the purpose for which they were established. Proposals which are brought before the City Council are examined for their validity and impact on we, the citizens.
Our modest annual dues, $20, allows us to inform our members through a monthly newsletter of the most current news and information about issues which have, or will affect the costs of running our city. Simply put, we represent the taxpayers and encourage all citizens to join us as we work to make Marco Island a better community through better government. Please visit our Web site: marcomita.com, and join us in that effort.
Karen Glaub, Treasurer
Marco Island Taxpayers Association

As a previous active member of MITA I must make it clear that MITA is a small organization run by small minded people.
