Fundamentals and tweaking your tennis game are part of the adult programs slated for the Marco Island Racquet Center, starting next week.
The Fundamental Clinics are to learn basic strokes, along with scoring, rules and proper etiquette. Participants also will receive free court time from noon to 5 p.m. and one hour of practice, using the ball machine.
The six-week clinic has two starting times. The first is 10 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday and the second, 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday. Cost is $72 for residents and $90 for non-residents.
The Drills and Tactics Clinics are to offer a balanced approach to hitting tennis balls with a purpose. It is also designed to improve mobility and court sense. Beginning days are 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. on the following Sunday. The weekly clinics are $12 for residents and $15 for non-residents.
The Shot of the Week Clinics are from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. A specific shot will be highlighted each week to help players fine tune their games. The weekly charge is $12 for residents and $15 for non-residents.
Doubles Strategy Clinics are 9 to 11 a.m. for the 3.0 level player and 10 to 11 a.m. for the 3.5 level player, beginning Oct. 17. The clinics will focus on strategy and position situations encountered in doubles play. The weekly cost is $12 for residents and $15 for non-residents.
