MARCO ISLAND A fund raiser for injured Marco Island Police Officer Cpl. Kevin Hennings, 35 is Thursday at Capt. Briens.
Hennings, a single father of two young boys, was severely injured in an off duty jet ski accident Sept. 21.
Capt. Brien will donate the $20 cost for each comedy club ticket to assist Hennings with his medical bills. When purchasing tickets at the door mention support for Hennings, said representatives of the Off the Hook Comedy Club in a Wednesday press release.
Marco City Councilman Rob Popoff, who is friends with Hennings, told reporters earlier this month that Hennings had a broken jaw, nose and left arm; his jaw was wired shut and he had scrapes, cuts and bruises everywhere. Hennings spent five days in an intensive care unit and is expected to make a full recovery, according to a prepared release about the fund raiser.
The fund raiser will feature comedian Mike Armstrong, with shows Thursday through Sunday at Off the Hook Comedy Club on South Collier Boulevard starting 9:30 p.m. each night. For reservations call 389-6900 or go to www.OfftheHookComedy.com.
