The 3rd Annual Hairball is the purrfect occasion to support felines.

A fund raising dinner and auction is at 6 p.m., Nov. 1, at the Marco Island Marriott Resort.

The event will provide funds for the Love of Cats on Marco Island.

The organization is dedicated to saving the lives of cats and kittens. It is a no-kill, all volunteer shelter and rescue group that operates through donations from the community. It also has a Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) management program for stray and feral cats that are humanely trapped, vaccinated and sterilized.

Kittens and cats are adopted into good homes. Healthy cats too old to be adopted are returned to their familiar habitat under the lifelong care of volunteers.

Since its formation in 2002, to the end of 2007, records show that 800 kittens have been rescued and more than 350 adult cats have been sterilized.

The event is $90 a person for a buffet dinner and valet parking. There will be a silent auction, reverse raffle for a LCD TV and a Kitten Hospital Donation Station.
