Almost Famous Mel’s SouthBeach Smokehouse and BBQ is celebrating its first year anniversary this Saturday and everyone on Marco Island is invited to the festivities.

Restaurateur/co-owner Cathy O’Clarke Slawik was at the restaurant to discuss the upcoming festivities with Executive Chef Charlie Haxton.

“We’re really excited that we are doing well at Almost Famous Mel’s,” said O’Clarke Slawik, also co-owner with her husband Mel Slawik at their equally successful and well-known Cathy O’Clarke’s Irish Pub & Grille. “We have a lot of good people around us, and our Executive Chef Charles Haxton is a positive influence in bringing the staff together. The unity in the kitchen extends out to our front of the house staff and that’s reflected in their welcoming and professional attitude towards our customers!”

On Saturday only, Almost Famous Mel’s SouthBeach Smokehouse – BBQ restaurant will be featuring a couple of specially-priced dinners, including a Surf & Turf special entrée for the anniversary, said Chef Charlie.

“It’s a 6-ounce filet and 6-ounce lobster tail with a choice of two sides priced at $24.99. I’m also offering a Fixed Price Menu for $19.99 — that’s with the Hogg Platter and will include appetizer, the entrée and dessert. The Hogg Platter alone is $22.99 on our regular menu.”

Saturday’s anniversary events will also include Free Birthday Cake, especially baked for the occasion by Chef Charlie, as well as several Mel’s famous drink specials, and drawings for T-shirts and hats adorned with Almost Famous Mel’s SouthBeach Smokehouse logos and pithy comments.

Live entertainment starts at 4 p.m. with a Reggae/Steel Band, and Country and Oldies music by Bobby McCall will get hands clapping and feet tapping beginning at 8 p.m.
