— Parks and Recreation Director Dana Souza, who also served as interim City Manager between March and May, formally resigned Oct. 15 and within two days, suggestions for his replacement began.

Public Works Director Rony Joel recommended that City Manager Steve Thompson consider Tim Pinter for the interim Parks and Recreation director. Joel sent an e-mail suggestion to Thompson and Souza Oct. 17.

Souza replied recommending City Planner Bryan Milk instead.

Thompson said Tuesday that their recommendations “carry weight” however he may suggest an interim director “internally or in the community.”

He said the interim Parks and Recreation director will be announced before Souza’s last day with the city, Nov. 14.

In the meantime, the city is also conducting a search for a long term parks and recreation director. The salary range for the position is between $82,691 and $103,364 plus a benefits allowance of 30 percent. Requirements include at least a bachelor’s degree in parks and recreation management, public administration or a related field; six years of experience in parks and recreation management and two years of governmental experience.
