I-75 delays, closures expected beginning Thursday night
Closures and delays are expected for Interstate 75 Thursday night as crews install components of a traffic monitoring system in Lee County.
Starting at 8 p.m., the outside northbound lane of I-75 will be closed at mile marker 129.6, between Alico Road and Daniels Parkway.
Beginning at 11 p.m., a “rolling roadblock” will move through the northbound lanes starting at mile marker 116.5, just north of Bonita Beach Road.
As the roadblock moves up the interstate, traffic will be limited to 15 mph, and the interstate on-ramps along the way will be temporarily closed until the roadblock has moved north of each interchange. This is expected to affect exit 123, Corkscrew Road, and exit 128, Alico Road.
Work is anticipated to be complete by 5 a.m. Friday.
On Sunday and Monday night, Sept. 7 and Sept. 8, closures are slated for the toll lanes at the eastbound toll plaza on Alligator Alley.
From 9 p.m., to 6 a.m., three toll lanes and one traffic lane will be closed as traffic delineators and pavement markings are put in place at the toll plaza. While at least one traffic lane and two toll lanes will remain open at all times, one lane of traffic will be closed entering and leaving the plaza, between mile marker 99.5 and mile marker 100.5.
