We’ve had some extremely hectic days at the MICA office in recent weeks. However, what makes our days most enjoyable is meeting and interacting with our wonderful, friendly members. Since our new membership year just began on Monday, we’ve had the pleasure of seeing many of our members for the first time in more than a year!
They share with us happenings of the past year — maybe there’s been a birth; the passing of a dear loved one; a son or daughter enlisted in military service; a move from a house to a condo, or vice versa; or the big move from up north to our tropical island. We enjoy the conversation and are thrilled to see members return year after year.
Of course, we hear many a story about what members enjoy most about the Marco Island Residents’ Beach. Most members truly appreciate the cleanliness of the property and the friendliness of the gate attendants, the ease of parking and the convenience of the food grill, as well as the various entertainment events that are offered.
One recent visitor to our office was Elizabeth Freeman. Wow, was she in shape and looking terrific! We asked Elizabeth what her secret is to keeping young, and believe it or not, she said “Residents’ Beach!” She then proceeded to share with us that she would “testify that having a Residents’ Beach membership and using it, can keep you young.” Elizabeth walks on Residents’ Beach five mornings a week and says that she is a very senior citizen! We’re not giving away her age, but the girls in the MICA office can unequivocally state that Elizabeth Freeman is a wonder!
We’ve heard from some members that they’ve made life-long friends at Residents’ Beach. One member said about 15 years ago she took a deck of cards with her to the beach and casually asked those sitting nearby if they’d like to join her in a game of cards. “We’d be delighted,” was the response and a real bond was born. Now they regularly meet for games at Residents’ Beach and visit each other during the summer months in New York, Pennsylvania and Massachusetts! Imagine — it all started at Residents’ Beach!
Join with your friends and neighbors at the Marco Island Residents’ Beach. Walk and stay young! Sit and make new friends! Whatever you enjoy most about Residents’ Beach, now is the time to join. MICA’s fiscal year runs from September 1 to August 31. The annual fee is just $130 for use of the property 365 days per year. If you have any questions, please call 642-7778. We look forward to hearing your stories as well!
