NAPLES An Immokalee man who authorities said was plotting a fight with his brother devised a novel way to make sure no one saw the attack - he turned out the lights.
On Monday night 22-year-old David Boyer, 737 Amos Court, was arguing with his brother Arthur, whose son was shoplifting in Fort Myers earlier in the day, according to a Collier County Sheriff’s Office arrest report. David Boyer told his nephew that if he kept it up, he’d be a good thief.
Arthur Boyer told his brother to shut up.
David Boyer responded that if Arthur told him to shut up again, he would knock him out. David Boyer spit in his brother’s face and told him he could kill him, deputies said.
He then said he knew what he could do to get Arthur Boyer.
David Boyer turned off the lights so his sister and mother wouldn’t see him strike Arthur Boyer, said his sister, Bodna Boyer. Reports said David Boyer hit his brother multiple times in the chest, and pushed him.
Arthur Boyer ran outside to get his cell phone so he could call for help. David Boyer followed him out while striking himself in the head and screaming "stop hitting me," the Sheriff’s Office reported.
Deputies arrested David Boyer and charged him with battery and intimidating or threatening a witness.
