FDOT RoadWatch Report for the week of Sunday, April 5, 2009

— COLLIER COUNTY

iROX (I-75 Road Expansion project to six-lane the interstate from Golden Gate Parkway interchange #105 in Collier County to Colonial Boulevard interchange #136 in Lee County): Construction project --- Crews will be working 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 5th to Saturday, April 11th, weather permitting, placing management of traffic signs and barrels along I-75 northbound and southbound between the Golden Gate interchange (exit #105) and the Colonial Boulevard interchange (exit #136). Crews also will conduct surveys, construct sound walls, place silt fencing off the roadway for erosion control, install sod, perform drainage work in the median and do median widening. Crews will perform bridgework at Pine Ridge Road (exit #107), Immokalee Road (exit #111), Corkscrew Road (exit #123), Hicks Crossing (mile marker #124), Gator Crossing (mile marker #129), and Daniels Parkway (exit #131). Motorists should expect occasional shoulder closures between the Golden Gate interchange and the Colonial Boulevard interchange. The following work is scheduled, weather permitting, and includes lane closures:

· Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Monday night, April 6th through early Friday morning, April 10th, asphalt paving requires closure of the inside travel lane both northbound and southbound from the Pine Ridge Road interchange (exit #107) to the Immokalee Road interchange (exit #111).

· Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Monday night, April 6th through early Friday morning, April 10th, deck pours will require various lane closures on Corkscrew Road at the Corkscrew Road/I-75 interchange.

· Each night/overnight 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., from Sunday night, April 5th through early Friday morning, April 10th, paving, construction of berms, and median work requires one lane to be closed both northbound and southbound from the Daniels Parkway interchange (#131) to the Colonial Boulevard interchange (#136).

· 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 6th to Saturday, April 11th, demolition and bridgework will require various lane closures in Pine Ridge Road at the Pine Ridge Road/I-75 interchange. Motorists are advised to expect eastbound lane closures in the morning and westbound lane closures in the afternoon.

· 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 6th to Saturday, April 11th, demolition and bridgework will require various lane closures on Immokalee Road at the Immokalee Road/I-75 interchange. Motorists are advised to expect eastbound lane closures in the morning and westbound lane closures in the afternoon.

· 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 6th to Saturday, April 11th, demolition and bridgework will require various lane closures on Bonita Beach Road at the Bonita Beach Road/I-75 interchange. Motorists are advised to expect eastbound lane closures in the morning and westbound lane closures in the afternoon.

· 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 6th to Saturday, April 11th, demolition and bridgework will require various lane closures on Corkscrew Road at the Corkscrew Road/I-75 interchange. Motorists are advised to expect eastbound lane closures in the morning and westbound lane closures in the afternoon.

· 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday, April 6th to Saturday, April 11th, demolition and bridgework will require various lane closures on Daniels Parkway at the Daniels Parkway/I-75 interchange. Motorists are advised to expect eastbound lane closures in the morning and westbound lane closures in the afternoon.

Motorists should expect lane closures northbound and southbound during nighttime work with the speed limit reduced to 60 mph. One lane northbound and one lane southbound will remain open to traffic during nighttime work requiring lane closures. Motorists are reminded to USE CAUTION, always buckle up, always pay attention, and do not tailgate. WORK ZONE SAFETY IS EVERYONE’S JOB.

I-75/Alligator Alley: From Turnback Slough to Faka Union Canal (Approximately 7 miles from the toll plaza): Construction project --- This project is milling and resurfacing the roadway. Crews are working on maintenance of traffic, erosion control, drainage, striping and milling and resurfacing the roadway. Motorists should expect possible lane closures, slow moving traffic and construction traffic. Motorists should also be advised that the speed limit has been reduced to 60 mph in the project limits. Law enforcement officers will be on site to assist with traffic. The contractor is Better Roads, Inc.

I-75/Alligator Alley: Northbound (westbound) over Jabba Canal (approximately 26.4 miles east of S.R. 29 at mile marker #53.6): Maintenance project --- Crews will be making bridge repairs on Sunday, April 5th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect intermittent northbound (westbound) right and left lane closures, slow moving traffic, and possible delays.

S.R. 29: From C.R. 29A to the Hendry/Collier County line: Construction project --- Crews will be removing and replacing pavement markings from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area. The contractor is AKCA, Inc.

S.R. 29: Southbound and northbound from 4th Street to 7th Street (In Immokalee): Maintenance project --- Crews are repairing sidewalk and working in the median and roadway shoulder from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect northbound and southbound left lane closures, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

U.S. 41: Northbound from S.R. 739/Business U.S. 41 to the Lee/Charlotte County line: Maintenance project --- Department crews are tree trimming and ditch cutting from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area.

U.S. 41: From the northern end of the Caloosahatchee River Bridge to Littleton Road: Maintenance permit project --- Crews are landscaping and installing irrigation in the median from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect lane closures and possible delays.

U.S. 41: Southbound from Coconut Road to Commerce Drive: Maintenance permit project --- Crews are installing new power poles from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect a southbound right lane closure, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

U.S. 41: At the intersection of Woods Edge Parkway: Maintenance permit project --- Crews are installing a new traffic signal at this intersection from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

S.R. 78/Pine Island Road: Westbound from west of Chiquita Boulevard to Burnt Store Road: Maintenance permit project --- Crews are working on underground utilities on the side of the roadway through Monday, April 6th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area and possible slow moving traffic.

S.R. 78/Bayshore Road: From Evalena Lane to Hart Road: Maintenance permit project --- Crews will be installing new power poles from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. No lane closures are expected at this time, but motorists should be aware of crews working in the area, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

S.R. 80/Palm Beach Boulevard: Eastbound from S.R. 82/Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Heitman Street: Maintenance permit project --- Crews are working on the expansion of the Lee County Justice Center for the next several months. Motorists should expect eastbound right lane closures, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

S.R. 80/Palm Beach Boulevard: From I-75 to Prospect Avenue: Maintenance permit project --- Crews are landscaping and installing irrigation in the median from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect lane closures and possible delays.

S.R. 867/McGregor Boulevard: Northbound from A&W Bulb Road to Lake McGregor: Maintenance permit project --- Crews are repairing concrete curbing from Tuesday, March 31st to Tuesday, April 7th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect a northbound right lane closure, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

S.R. 739/Business U.S. 41: Northbound and southbound from Pondella Road to the Edison Bridge: Maintenance project --- Department crews are sweeping and edging the roadway from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect intermittent northbound and southbound right lane closures, slow moving traffic and possible delays.

S.R. 739/Business U.S. 41: Northbound over the Caloosahatchee River: Maintenance project --- Crews will be conducting routine bridge inspections on Thursday, April 9th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., weather permitting. Motorists should expect a northbound right lane closure, slow moving traffic, and possible delays.

S.R. 739/Metro Parkway: From Six Mile Cypress Parkway to Daniels Parkway: Construction project --- This project is widening Metro Parkway from two to six-lanes. Crews will be working on installing water lines along the northbound Metro Parkway. Work will continue on the signalization at the intersection of Six Mile Cypress Parkway and Metro Parkway. Motorists should be aware of short of traffic shifts during installation of the traffic signals. Motorists should also be aware of intermittent road closures of side streets on the west side of Metro Parkway. Detours will be posted for traffic to access businesses along Metropolis Road. Krypton, Endeavor and Atlantis Lane are currently closed as crews continue to install utilities. The traffic is being detoured to Alliance and Lois Lee Lane. Variable message boards are posted along Metro Parkway with information regarding road closures. Motorists should expect possible lane closures with delays and slow moving traffic. Flagmen will be on site to direct traffic. The contractor is E.T. MacKenzie Company.

S.R. 31/Wilson-Pigott Bridge: Rehabilitation project --- This project is underway and is estimated for completion in spring 2009. Crews will be making electrical, mechanical, and structural repairs to the bridge. This rehabilitation project will extend the service life of the bridge 15 to 20 years with continued routine maintenance. Drivers should expect periodic nighttime/overnight closures (both single lane and total bridge closure) between now and then. These closures would occur from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., weather permitting, and variable message signs will advise drivers several days in advance. The project is not expected to affect marine traffic. The detour route for this project remains the same as before when the bridge was closed temporarily to traffic during maintenance jobs: drivers traveling south on S.R. 31 may use S.R. 78/Bayshore Road west to I-75 and proceed south on I-75. The S.R. 80 interchange is located immediately south of the Caloosahatchee River and drivers may proceed then east/west on S.R. 80. The route is reversed for drivers normally using S.R. 31 north. Drivers also may choose alternate routes depending on destinations. The contractor is Coastal Marine Construction.
