What is your favorite movie you have seen recently? Why?
I really loved “Vantage Point,” with Dennis Quaid, and William Hurt as the president. It was about an assassination attempt, and it had a little bit of everything in it. I thought the direction was excellent, and there was a lot of local flavor.
What is your favorite movie genre?
I like a lot of different kinds of film. I like action movies, mysteries, but mostly, I appreciate the craft, so if it’s well-made, I don’t care what type of movie you’d call it.
Are there any movies you watched recently that you didn’t like? Why not?
I definitely didn’t care for “Leaving Las Vegas,” where Nicholas Cage drinks himself to death. I guess it was just too close to real.
Do you think movies today are getting better or worse?
I would say movies are on the decline, if you think about the kind of film you’d go to see over and over. There are too many people involved in the decisions–it’s like a horse designed by a committee.
Do you watch movies on TV?
Sure, we do Netflix, and I go to the library and get movies there. One quickly forgets the names of most of them, though, unless they are memorable somehow. I don’t get the movie channels — there aren’t enough good ones to make it worthwhile.
