Bed Linens donated to United Way

United Way of Collier County was among a handful of charities that participated in the “Make a Difference Day” event at Big Cypress Marketplace on March 28-29.

The new indoor Marketplace, which is owned and managed by Basik Development, opened to local charities who were given large 11-by-11-foot booths at no charge to display information about themselves and interact with more than 2,000 Marketplace visitors.

During the weekend event, United Way was approached by Gerry LaDinfa, the owner of Da Vinci Laser Teeth Whitening, a permanent commercial booth at the Marketplace. LaDinfa was also selling luxury bed linens at the Marketplace and decided to donate his entire stock to United Way.

United Way distributed 115 sets of bed linens to several of its partner agencies including Youth Haven and Catholic Charities of Collier County. According to Allegra Belliard, program director at Catholic Charities, her clients were appreciative and the linens were gone in a day.

United Way of Collier County funds 29 local charities that provide vital human services to over 100,000 people each year. The agency will be hosting its annual softball tournament June 13-14 at North Collier Regional Park, and encourages local businesses to form teams and participate.
