Motorized bicyclist’s injury leads to Medflight to Lee County Hospital

— Rory O’Neill, 57, of Marco Island, was injured after a mechanical failure threw him off his motorized bicycle near Bald Eagle Drive and North Collier Boulevard 7:15 p.m. Sunday.

The Collier County Sheriff's Office was called Sunday evening with a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle near Chalmers Drive. However, there were no other individuals or vehicles involved in the cyclist's accident upon investigation by the Marco Island Police Department.

O’Neill, who was not wearing a helmet, was taken by Medflight to Lee Memorial Hospital.
