UPDATE: Fire breaks out on Keewaydin Island

— A brush fire broke out near marker 38 on Keewaydin Island early Wednesday afternoon.

City of Marco Island spokeswoman Lisa Douglass confirmed that the Marco Island Fire Department responded to the blaze.

Fire Chief Mike Murphy reported at 3 p.m. that the fires are out. Isles of Capri Fire Rescue and Marco Island Fire Rescue Departments responded to the brush fire, Murphy said.

He added the Florida Division of Forestry was en route to investigate this afternoon.
