Local tennis: Marco's Embree advances to Easter Bowl quarterfinals

Marco Island’s Lauren Embree advanced to the quarterfinals of the Easter Bowl tournament in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on Wednesday in straight sets.

Embree, the top seed in the Girls 18 singles draw, downed Mary Clayton of Plantation 6-3, 6-2.

Embree advanced to play unseeded Ellen Tsay of Pleasanton, Calif., in today’s quarterfinal round. Tsay defeated Gabrielle De Simone 6-2, 6-1 on Wednesday.
