MARCO ISLAND — The Racquet Center is hosting a Friends of Snoopy Tennis Benefit from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 23 to raise money for the Marco Island Dog Park. By the time the tennis match is held, it is expected that the dog runs at Mackle Park will have a name.
FRIENDS OF SNOOP TENNIS
“Have a dog gone good time with friends to help out man’s best friend,” wrote Bill VanGlabek, Racquet Center supervisor, in a prepared release Thursday.
The family doubles mixer is open to all ages. Refreshments will be provided. The entry fee is $20. Contact the Racquet Center at 394-5454 to register. The Racquet Center is located at 1275 San Marco Road.
NAME THAT DOG PARK
While tennis players can help fund the park, Marco Island middle school and elementary students are helping to name it. The deadline for entry is April 20. All entries must be filled-out completely and may be turned in at your school office, in-person, or by mail to: The City of Marco Island, Parks & Recreation, 1361 Andalusia Terrace, Marco Island, FL 34145.
The winner submitting the best name will achieve fame among local dog lovers, along with a $25 McDonald's gift card.
In addition, the entire class will receive a pizza party in their classroom. In the event that the name chosen was submitted by more than one entry, the winner will be drawn.
