Marco Island's Lauren Embree, the top seed, lost to No. 4 seed Christina McHale of Englewood Cliffs, N.J., 6-0, 6-3, in the Girls 18s championship match of the Easter Bowl tournament in Rancho Mirage, Calif., on Saturday.
McHale beat No. 2 seed Kristie Ahn in straight sets in the semifinals. Embree, who is from Lely High School, had won a pair of three-set matches on her way to the finals. Embree defeated No. 9 seed Alexandra Cercone in the semifinals, 6-3, 6-1.
Embree and partner Mallory Burdette did win the doubles title in a walkover over the No. 2 seeds, Ahn and Monica Puig.
