Joyce Washor's May workshop offers big art concepts on the small canvas

The 2009-2010 Visiting Artist Workshop schedule is filled with very talented artists who are also gifted instructors. These 3-5 day intense study classes are a great way to learn new and exciting techniques from some of today’s top artists.

May is just around the corner and two great workshops are on tap. First, Joyce Washor offers techniques for painting small masterpieces in oil in her workshop “Big Art Small Canvas”, May 11-14. Claudine Hellmuth returns to Bonita Springs May 15-17 for three days of collage in “Beyond the UN-Expected: Creating 3D Collage”.

A watercolor workshop focusing on flowers is scheduled for September 28-30 with Janet Rogers. And, those who work in pastel, acrylic or oil can study with Brenda Mattson, September 28-October 2 as she presents “Paint What You Love”.

Other artists who will travel to Bonita Springs to offer workshops during the fall and winter months are: Carol Z. Brody, Robert Carsten, Robert Burridge, Karlyn Holman, Lynn Ferris, Susan Sarback, Margaret Berry, and Gil Dellinger. Each instructor offers demonstrations, group and individual instruction, and a unique learning experience for students wishing to further their knowledge of art.

A complete list of workshops with a brief description and examples of the artist’s work can be viewed on-line at www.artcenterbonita.org or picked up at the Center for the Arts. Early registration is recommended to ensure a spot in the workshop of your choice.

Art League members interested in exhibiting their work at Bonita Springs’ City Hall should bring their framed artwork to City Hall between 10:00am and noon on Thursday, April 23. City Hall is located at 9101 Bonita Beach Road. This “Art in Public Places” exhibition will remain through the summer months. Area residents and visitors interested in viewing or purchasing art from the exhibition will find the artworks displayed in the large meeting room on the first floor of the building.

Receiving will be held Tuesday, April 28 from 10:00am-noon at First Presbyterian Church located at 9751 Bonita Beach Road for their “Art in Public Places” exhibition. This collection of artworks by Art League members will also remain on display through the summer months. Visitors will find the spacious halls of the church lined with beautiful artworks.
