MARCO ISLAND — About 65 students from third through fifth grade toured the Marco Eagle office Tuesday morning. The intermediate multi-age classes of Tommie Barfield Elementary School teachers Susan Baumler, Gail Dunphy and Nicole Wood received a tour through the newsroom with introductions to news photography by reporter Quentin Roux, beginning journalism skills from Roger LaLonde and the use of a video camera by reporter Kelly Farrell.
Presentation editor Nadine Ouillette showed the students how to submit news to the Marco Eagle and showed them layout and design techniques. General Manager Bob Sandy gave an overview of the publications and tour of the entire office from sales through the newsroom.
Students helped create an online video, posted to marconews.com.
