Marco Island Police Briefs: April 22, 2009

— POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

After stopping a vehicle at 800 East Elkcam Circle at 5:07 p.m., April 13, officers reported smelling marijuana. Scott Shelton, 41, of 568 Eden Court, Marco Island, was found with marijuana on his person. He was arrested and released on a notice to appear in court.

RECKLESS DRIVING IN A CLOSED CONSTRUCTION ZONE

William Francis Greichen, 74, of 51 South Seas Court was arrested and released on a notice to appear in court. He was charged with driving reckless and possibly endangering the safety of construction workers on East Elkcam Circle and North Collier Boulevard while the road had been closed for resurfacing.

DRIVER NOT LICENSED

Eddy G. Torres, 27, of 11251 S.W. 105th Avenue, Miami, was arrested for driving a vehicle without being licensed near 600 South Collier Boulevard, at 2:50 p.m., April 18. He was taken to jail.

THEFT OF WALLET

Katy Hernandez, 22, of 2062 Rookery Bay Drive unit 2407, was arrested after and charged with stealing a wallet from a purse at DaVinci’s Restaurant, 599 South Collier Boulevard, at 11:02 p.m., April 18. Estimated value of property stolen and recovered was $225. Hernandez was taken to jail.

THEFT OF CAMERA

Alanna Pollara reported that her camera had been stolen while in the beach area near 400 South Collier Boulevard at about 6:30 p.m., April 17. The camera’s value is about $200.
