MARCO ISLAND — Marco Island police officers and their families enjoyed a Sunday afternoon of food, fun and entertainment at Gene Sarazan Park courtesy of the Marco Island Police Foundation.
Foundation President Dick Shanahan says this event is to show appreciation for all the work and sacrifice throughout the year by the Marco Island Police Department.
The 32 officer department, led by Chief Thomas Carr, and family members enjoyed a picnic of roast pig, hamburgers, hot dogs, bratwurst and all the trimmings, including watermelon for dessert.
Members of Marco City Council who attended and assisted in serving the officers, included Jerry Gibson and Chuck Kiester, who commented that “It’s a beautiful day to hold a nice event for such nice people.”
Door prizes were furnished by Cocomo’s, Publix, Outback Steakhouse and Cedar Bay Marina. Entertainment was provided by Jukebox Productions. The Marco Police Foundation is a non-profit, non-political foundation that was formed to support the Marco Island Police Department.
