Lely’s girls and boys soccer teams each recorded shutouts on Tuesday.

The Lady Trojans blanked Lehigh, 8-0, while the boys goose-egged Gulf Coast, 4-0.

The ladies upped their record to 3-2, while the boys won their first game for a 1-3-1 mark.

Ciera Abundez slammed home four goals; Amanda Lopez banged home two; Jenna Lundquist and Emily Hine had a goal each. Justine Giles led in assists with four, while Abundez and Lopez had one each.

Coach Mark Lopez was pleased with his ladies efforts.

“All the hard work and practice paid off tonight,” he said. “The girls played really well.”

Rob Schenk, the boys coach, agreed that hard work pays off, but he also was relieved.

“What a blessing, we were way past due,” Schenk said of his team’s win. “We made some adjustments in the lineup, but mainly it was that we scored gaols.”

In its three losses, each game was decided by a goal.

Widmy Romelius and Ben Jean kicked in two goals each. Adolfo Bedolla, Uriel Gomez and Salvador Aguayo supplied assists.
