The spirit of Christmas filled Mackle Park Community Center on Saturday morning. The park staff, deputized as Santa’s elves for the day, lead an energized group of over 40 children through a variety of Christmas craft activities including reindeer headbands, Christmas necklaces, ornaments, decorating paper Christmas trees and making gingerbread houses.

This is the very best event of all year.

“This is the very best event of all year," said Mindy Matusiak, Mackle Park recreation program supervisor.

“The staff enjoys dressing up as elves. The event also gives the staff the chance to act silly, step away from everyday life and enjoy the Christmas season, ” she added.

Matusiak also wants everyone to make plans to attend the Marco Island Parks and Recreation Department’s ‘Cookies and Milk with Santa’ on from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Dec. 12 at Mackle Park. All ages are welcomed to attend. Kids, make certain that you get your list together for the big day and don’t forget to tell your parents to bring their cameras! Cookies and milk will be served during Santa’s visit. Call 642-0575 for more details. Walk-ins welcomed. There is no charge for this event.
