The cones in the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 will be removed Wednesday giving travelers six lanes of new road just in time for the Christmas holiday.

Crews will start opening the third southbound lane at 6 a.m. near the Golden Gate interchange on Wednesday, with all six lanes open to traffic about 9 p.m. Wednesday night.

Traffic headed to shopping destinations and the airport, daily I-75 drivers, and holiday travelers should plan extra travel time and use caution driving southbound on I-75 from the Colonial Boulevard interchange to the Golden Gate interchange.
