Eye on the Y: Holiday Camp rolls on at the Y

The first half of Holiday Camp was held this week at the Greater Marco Family YMCA, and what a fun time it was for the holiday campers. We all went on field trips to Cambier Park and Shy Wolf Sanctuary. The animals and exhibits at Shy Wolf were very interesting and the staff there is very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. Games and activities scheduled throughout the week included soccer, Frisbee toss, crab walk relays and reindeer races.

Many craft-making classes were held, including making snowmen from paper plates, making our own stockings and wreaths and seashell necklaces. Christmas Eve was Pajama Day at camp and activities included making Christmas cards, Christmas Star decorations and playing various games, all while dressed in our favorite PJs.

You can still register for week number two of Holiday Camp, which starts tomorrow and runs through Jan. 1. Activities will include Beach Clean Up Day, Polar Bear Dip Day, Silly Sock and Hat Day and a field trip to Woodside lanes. Camp is open to K-6 Grade. Camp time is 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., except New Year’s Eve, when camp closes at 3 p.m. Camp cost for the week is $75 for members and $85 others. You can drop in for the day for only $20 members and $25 others. Camp is held at the ASPIRE Clubhouse.
