MARCO ISLAND The Planning Board is making a final decision regarding short-term rentals. The meeting is 9 a.m. Friday at the City Council meeting room, 51 Bald Eagle Drive, downstairs from the police station. Let the Planning Board know that daily, weekend and weekly rentals should not be allowed in single-family residential areas, Salvi suggests.
"After living next to a weekly rental for seven years, I know that it is not possible to live in your home in a peaceful manner next to a hotel house with constant transient activity," Salvi said.
These rentals are commercial businesses and the city is trying to pass an ordinance that would legally allow them to operate in single-family zoned neighborhoods.
The constant noise, traffic and safety for neighborhood children are issues that need to be expressed to the Planning Board, Salvi said.
Come to the meeting, email the Planning Board, City Council or Nancy Paton npaton@cityofmarcoisland.com.
