Letter To The Editor: Beach sticker blues

I am a year round resident, have been for over 16 years, Pay taxes on the about property and work for SW FL landscapes Inc. We service 27 Collier County Public Schools as well as other accounts.

I have a small work truck, Chevy S10. I went to the library on Marco to obtain a beach sticker. I presented my legal driving license and registration, that’s when the “fun and games” started. A rude, obnoxious lady informed me I couldn’t have one as the registration didn’t match the license. I told her it was a company truck, and that I lived here year round and paid taxes. I also mentioned that I could produce the tax receipt to prove the preceding. No good. I had to contact parks and recreation in Naples.

I called a helpful guy that now informs me I need a letter from my boss that clearly states I can use the truck after hours ... guess they only believe I will visit the beach during that time, and perhaps not at lunchtime!

Anyway, I now have to obtain this letter, (which won’t be a problem) drive to Naples as Marco still won’t issue me with a sticker, present everything, and hope the “Gods” are in my favor.

Whatever happened to customer service, and welcoming people to our beaches that are public. I am sure there must be an easier solution to this predicament, but it would be hard to convince some of that, especially at the library.

Regards, an extremely unhappy City of Marco resident.
