Marriott Golf, one of the world’s premier golf operators, is once again reaching out to families, promoting “togetherness in golf” with the International Family Golf Festival program. The Rookery at Marco at 3433 Club Center Blvd., Naples, will host its second annual Family Golf Festival on July 18, from noon to 3 p.m.

The Marriott International Family Golf Festival, which encourages parents and children to learn and play the game together, invites families to the Rookery for an afternoon of free golf activities and instruction, including short game and full swing clinics. Participants will have the chance to win a variety of prizes in closest chip and longest putt made contests. Participants will also be treated to complimentary hot dogs, sodas, cookies and other snacks. All attendees, ages 15 and under, will receive a free T-shirt. The day will culminate with a free round of golf and free practice for parents and children.

The schedule for the day:

Noon — 1 p.m.: Short Game Instruction Clinic

1 p.m. — 2 p.m.: Full Swing Instruction Clinic

2 p.m. — 2:45 p.m.: Closest Chip & Longest Putt Contests

3 p.m. — Families are invited to a complimentary round of golf or practice. Participants must register in advance for this portion of the event.

The Marriott International Family Golf Festival is the latest effort by Marriott to promote family golf. In 2005, Marriott Golf launched “Kids Golf-4-Free,” a first-of-its-kind program that enables kids up to 15 years old to golf for free when accompanied by a full paying adult after 3 p.m. In addition, Marriott Golf also offers free lessons anytime to kids up to 15 years old when accompanied by an adult who is taking a fully paid lesson from a Marriott Golf instructor.
