What is your favorite restaurant and why?
I eat out on Marco all the time, so there are so many! Marco Polo might be my favorite … they have a wonderful menu and great service, and they sometimes have live entertainment. La Casita is fantastic too; it has the best margaritas and fajitas I have ever had. They have great entertainment at night. Snook’s is great, it has a great atmosphere and it is right on the water. When we go out on the boat, we usually stop by Snook’s. I really love Konrad’s, too. They’ve been there for 20 years and it’s still exactly the same as it was back then. The service is great: Konrad himself is always there to greet you at the door. CJ’s on the Bay is nice, it’s right next to where I live. The best seafood on the island is Paradise Shrimp Co. They have this great shrimp salad wrap.
What qualities do you look for in a good restaurant?
I look for everything! Great menu, good atmosphere, and friendly service. It has to have all three! I want the whole experience when I go out to eat. I love food; I love going to restaurants. That’s what’s great about Marco Island; almost none of the restaurants ever get bad reviews, they’re all great! I have so many options to choose from.
If you had guests coming from out of town, where would you take them?
Well, I do a lot of cooking myself, but I’d definitely take them to the Tiki Bar. It’s kind of off the beaten path; a lot of locals go there. They have great drinks, and there is a very Floridian air about the place. Or, something else I love to do is go to Su’s Garden. It is by far the best Chinese food on Marco Island.
