World Oceans Day film festival planned in Naples

The Gulf of Mexico Alliance and Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve will host “An Evening of Oceans Film Event,” to celebrate World Oceans Day on Monday.

The free event is planned from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at the Hilton Naples, 5111 U.S. 41 N. The event will include a screening of the short animated film "Once Upon a Tide," the story of a little girl's journey to the sea with a magical shell, and the documentary "Super Grouper," a 30-minute segment about goliath grouper from the public television series "Changing Seas."

A discussion will follow with the film's producer about the future of the species and the health of the world's oceans.

The Hilton and the Cheesecake Factory have provided generous support for this event.
