Marco’s Johnson new Lely girls basketball coach

Paul Johnson, recreation leader for the Marco Island Parks & Recreation Department, is the new Lely High girls basketball coach.

Johnson, who has conducted summer camps and managed a city-sponsored youth travel teams, replaces Brandon Miller, who resigned after two years.

Johnson came to Marco after coaching girls varsity basketball at Provision Academy in Sanford, North Carolina. He will remain with the city while coaching at Lely.

“With Paul having worked with the Macro kids we thought it would be a good transition and it has already worked out smoothly,” said Paul Ruby, Lely athletic director.
