MARCO ISLAND — Brigitte Strauss, 59, of Graz Austria, who arrested by Marco Island police after she was seen fleeing the Marco Marriott on May 26, is to have her day in court Monday. Strauss was witnessed on surveillance video stealing jewelry from the store, Jewelry by Laura, located inside the Island hotel.
Police discovered she planned to depart for Germany at 6 a.m. the next day. She was ordered to turn over her passport and prohibited from traveling. She has been out of jail on $5,000 bond since June 1. Her arraignment with Judge Frederick Hardt is scheduled 8:15 a.m., Monday, for charges of grand theft.
