NAPLES — Fourteen students from Barron Collier and Palmetto Ridge high schools will represent the Collier County School District at the Florida Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA) state conference March 5 to 8 at the Disney Hilton Hotel in Orlando. The students qualified based on their performance at the District 10 conference held in January.
The students are: From Barron Collier -- Jake Avery, Jaime Bustillos, Peter Dushku, Andreas Grasser, Elviona Buxheli, Diana Carillo, Allison Byers, Melissa Carvajal, Kaylee O’Brien and Alyssa Verkuilen; and from Palmetto Ridge -- Sam Easley, Miguel Juarez, Kirsten Elser and Savannah Griffin.
Top finishers at the state level may then compete at the DECA International Conference in April in Anaheim, Calif.
DECA’s objective is to support the development of marketing and management skills in career areas such as hospitality, finance, sales and service, business administration and entrepreneurship.
