Begorrah. St. Pat’s Day beckons

Local market hosts it’s first big concert to round off St. Patrick’s Day celebrations

Besides traditional celebrations March 17 by many local Marco Island restaurants, Big Cypress Market Place is marking the occasion with a boisterous concert.

It takes place Friday, March 20 at the huge flea market, winery and food court, situated about nine miles from Marco as the crow flies on U.S. 41

Billed as Tony Kenny’s Celtic Nights, it will be a celebration of Irish music, comedy, song and dance.

Publicist Maire Peters said Tony Kenny has thrilled audiences around the world, and has received dozens of awards for stage and television performances.

Apart from his long-running cabaret show at Jury’s Hotel in Dublin, Kenny was praised for starring roles in “Jesus Christ Superstar” and “Joseph and his Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”

His recordings have been hits on both sides of the Atlantic with seven gold discs and two platinum discs throughout his career, Peters said.

The entertainer’s daughter Victoria will join her father on stage. Sarah Rogers joins the cast with her violin, and Irish wit Joe Cuddy is another drawcard.

Peters said the show’s dancers, The Celtic Nights Dancers, round out the show.
