PHOTO GALLERY: Irish ayes - Inaugural Marco St. Pat's parade scores big

Hundreds of people turn out for a weekend of festivities, capped by a parade

Kathleen Reynolds’ Irish eyes were more than smiling after a successful weekend of food and merrymaking at Marco Island’s Veterans Community Park, topped by an inaugural St. Patrick’s Day street parade that attracted hundreds along the Bald Eagle Drive route. Reynolds, who said the event had been about five months in the planning, paid special tribute to her volunteers from the Sons and Daughters of Erin, and particularly Steve Stefanides for parade marshalling, and Dick Shanahan on behalf of the Marco Island Police Foundation for logistics.

Great community event. With all the BS going on, it's nice to rally as a community.

It was a wonderful parade. It was great to see everyone out as a community showing pride in Marco Island. It was also great to see Veterans Community Park being used for its intended purpose - a community park!

Thanks to all!
