We have gotten off to a good start at 5-0. Last year’s team was 17-7 overall and 9-1 in district play. We won our first regional game before losing to Shorecrest Prep.

We lost key players in RT Brown, catcher, Sonny Dillinger, pitcher-outfielder and Joe Stallone, second base, but we have some really good players back.

Anthony Tumbarello and Will Affleck are back as team leaders. Affleck, hitting around .350, cranked a monstrous home run in our win over Southwest Florida Christian Academy.

Sophomore Dillon Prisco (Marco Island) got his first start in that game. He pitched 3 1/3 innings, giving up no hits and striking out six. We took him out after he reached the pitch count we wanted him to throw. He played basketball and is now getting into arm shape for baseball.

Juniors Ray Messner, pitcher-first base, Garrett Braun, outfielder, infielder and pitcher and sophomore Garrett Ocana, infielder and pitcher are all doing well.

We have played all-around good games on offense and defense and our pitching has been strong. We don’t take any game for granted. We prepare the same way for every game, with everyone being a threat.
