More than 200 guests attended the Marco Island chapter’s Friends of the Library reception March 5 where Bill Rose picked the winning raffle ticket for the new Smart Car — it is Marco Island residents Linda and Tom Kourth.
Marco FOL president Nan Suffian announced this year’s raffle added the funds needed to build the multi-purpose room. Collier County Library Director Marilyn Matthes said Boran Craig Barber Engel Construction of Naples submitted the winning bid for the addition and groundbreaking should start this spring.
Linda and Tom Krouth moved to Marco from Green Bay, Wisconsin, last fall and purchased the winning ticket when voting at the library in the November presidential election. They had put their names on a two-year waitlist for a Smart Car and can now get their deposit back.
Ken Brown was the top volunteer salesman for raffle tickets and Jackie Hagerman, in her Hawaiian hula costume, sold a record number of 50/50 cash raffle tickets at the library raffle-drawing party.
