Bike thievery strikes Marco Island, dominates police briefs

Marco Island Police Briefs: March 18, 2009

— WARRANT ARREST/ Possession of drug paraphernalia

Alexander William Defrance, 26, of 130 North Collier Boulevard Unit E2, was wanted for an active warrant out of Collier County. Defrance was arrested at his home and charged with failure to appear in court and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was taken to the Naples Jail Center at 7:39 p.m., March 12.

THEFT of bicycle

Rodrigo Cordova Torres reported his bike stolen from a bicycle rack at 130 North Collier Boulevard. Torres said the bike was taken sometime between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., March 12. Estimated value of the bike is $75.

THEFTof bicycle

Rene Asuncion reported her son’s bike was taken from the bicycle rack at Tommie Barfield Elementary School, 101 Kirkwood Street, during school hours, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., March 12. Estimated value of the bike is $100.

THEFT of bicycle

Kerry Couture reported that her son’s bike was taken from the bicycle rack at Tommie Barfield Elementary School, 101 Kirkwood Street, during school hours, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., March 13. Estimated value of the bike is $100.

WARRANT ARREST/ violation of probation

Kristen Cohen, 29, of 1649 Piedmont Circle, Marco Island, was wanted for an active warrant out of Collier County for a violation of probation. Cohen was arrested and taken to jail, 12:31 p.m., March 13.

DOMESTIC Battery

Officers responded to a disturbance at 901 South Collier Boulevard apartment 206, at 9 a.m., March 14. Victim Alana Stokes reported that Kevin Miller, 44, of the same address, assaulted her. Miller was arrested and charged with domestic battery. He was taken to jail.

THEFT of bicycle

Donald DeWilkin’s reported that someone had stolen two bikes valued at approximately $200 from the bicycle rack at Anglers Cove Apartments, 1007 Anglers Cove. The bikes went missing sometime between 8 p.m., March 15 and 8 a.m., March 16.

RECKLESS driving

After a vehicle was seen driving recklessly at an excessively high speed, the vehicle was stopped by an officer near the corner of Chalmers Drive and Bald Eagle Drive, 10:48 p.m., March 16. Lazaro Cruz Martinez, 18, of 256 Second Avenue, Marco Island, was issued a criminal traffic citation and charged with reckless driving.
