A local airboat company has expanded its services to include a water taxi service between Caxambas Park and Stan’s Idle Hour Restaurant in Goodland.

The Island Breeze can carry 32 passengers, and departs at 11:30 a.m. Sunday with an estimated arrival time of around 1 p.m. depending on “eco stops” that might occur during the ride over to Goodland.

Departure time from Stan’s is 4:30 p.m., with the same loose arrival time at Caxambas Park for the same reasons.

Passengers, according to First Mate and publicist Jenny Buehrer, will receive a 10 percent discount on purchases at Stan’s.

Advance reservations are required (24 hours), and prices have yet to be determined. Call 970-2340

The company’s airboat tours run out of Stan’s Monday through Saturday, and the boats are moored at the restaurant.

Performing against the flow

By many standards 2008 was not a good year in real estate in the Marco Island area.

However, 29 Marco Island Prudential Florida Realtors did excel under very trying circumstances and were recognized at the company’s recent annual awards luncheon.

Keynote speaker Jon Gordon — author of the immensely popular The Energy Bus motivational book — told the audience that the solutions to challenges are within each one of us, and that successful people always look forward and are motivated to find opportunities when others despair.

This is certainly true of Helga Wetzold who was recognized as the No. 11 ranked Realtor among more than 1,800 Prudential Florida Realty associates.

Other award winners were:

n President’s Circle Award: John and Sandra James, Judy Kenney and Patty Carnes, Susie Hauze, and Lee and Wanda Day.

n Leading Edge Award: Michelle and Wright Taylor, Rod and Diane Rodrigue, Barbara and Gerry Rosenblum, and Janice and Bobby Camposano.

n Honor Society: Lisa Grear, Tony Bernosky, Maureen Roberts, Jon Busch, Gordon Potter, Phil and Victoria Josberger, Peggy Forrester, Patricia Rodinsky, Ed and Maryanne Valvano, Susan LaGrotta and Jack Owen.

I am very proud to be associated with this group of outstanding Realtors. They are exceptional in that they will be successful during good times and during the challenging times.

They are dedicated to their customers and provide exemplary service to retain their allegiance. These people are the true real estate professionals.
