Dozens of volunteers from Marco’s Hideaway Beach community donated household items, clothing and books for a big yard sale held March 14 at Veterans Community Park. It yielded $7,500 to benefit the Marco Island Chapter of the American Cancer Society. Organizers Susan Gardner and Rhoda Bell said shoes (38 pairs in one early sale) and books flew off the tables, while bigger ticket items such as Stairmasters and exercise bicycles were also popular at selling prices of around $60. The ACS Relay for Life takes place March 27 and 28 at Mackle Park.
