Eye on the Y: Get all your rubber ducks in a row

St. Patrick’s Day has come and gone. Did you survive? Did you over do it on eating the corned beef and cabbage? Drink your favorite green beverage? Upon entering the Y on Tuesday morning I pleasantly observed tiny green footprints and gold glitter on the floor leading to the Y preschool area. The leprechauns were visiting the children and because of a hole in his treasure bag left gold nuggets in the play ground for the children to gather ala the Easter egg hunt. A fine time was had by all the preschool students and a few parents who stopped by to help out. The leprechauns played tricks on the teachers and students by hiding things like shoes, toys, blankets, dancing on mats and leaving little tiny footprints on the children’s faces and arms while they slept. All in all, it was a great day.

Two events are scheduled this weekend.

Tonight is a youth social for grades 3-4-5 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Dottie Weiner Pool pavilion. Plenty of fun music, food and games will be held. Tickets are $12 at the gate.

Saturday at 11 a.m. is the scheduled running of the 14th annual Dottie’s Duck Derby at the Y Duck Pond (the pool). Come on out and cheer on your duck to win cash for you for placing first, second or third. The pool will be open again at 1 p.m. for swimming. The Duck Derby helps raise funds for the Aquatics program.
