Fast facts

Jane Hittler came to Marco with her husband Larry in early Deltona days. Jane decided that she wanted to do more than play bridge and golf, and wanted to make an impact on Marco.

Did she ever! Over the years, Jane was involved in the Beautification Committee. She received a Presidential Award for the lovely medians we enjoy today and a park on Collier Boulevard was named for her in appreciation.

Hittler was known as “Grandmother of the Y” after working with the Mackle brothers to create a recreational center for young people; she was instrumental in the building of the medical center; and refurbishing the old cemetery on Bald Eagle Drive. She was an early member of the Historical Society and kicked off our museum fund drive with a check for a thousand dollars.

Hittler died not too long ago and is sorely missed by her friends. We all benefit from her hard work.
