Campaign for Leadership will launch April 24

The Leadership Collier Foundation, in partnership with The Naples Daily News, will launch the Campaign for Leadership on April 24 and 25. The day-and-a-half bipartisan workshop will include panel presentations and group discussions led by area civic leaders. Topics to be covered include how to successfully run a campaign for elected office, how to effectively participate as a member of a government board or commission and an overview of how local government works.

The Campaign for Leadership will kick off with a luncheon featuring Florida’s Attorney General Bill McCollum, who will offer an overview of Florida’s future, including the opportunities and challenges ahead.

“We are privileged to have Attorney General McCollum deliver the keynote address during the inaugural Campaign for Leadership program” stated Edward A. Morton, chairman of the Leadership Collier Foundation. “His career has been devoted to leadership. The citizens of our great state have benefited immensely from his wisdom and dedication,”

“The Campaign for Leadership will spark civic engagement, foster political action, and improve the quality of our community’s future. Participants will be charged with a vital task: to advocate and promote excellence at all levels of local government,” stated Michael V. Reagen, President and CEO of The Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce and The Leadership Collier Foundation.

The cost to attend the full workshop is $60 and includes the kick-off luncheon Friday, April 24. Tickets for the luncheon only are $25. The luncheon will be held at the Collier Athletic Club. All other portions of the workshop will be held at the Greater Naples Chamber of Commerce building at 2390 U.S. 41 N.

Survey Cafe Celebrates Grand Opening

The Survey Café is celebrating its grand opening this Saturday, March 28th, from 7:30-3:00. Located in a historic home turned Café where local art and antique tools adorn the walls, the Café offers a nostalgic Florida experience. The Survey Café is across from Riverside Park in Downtown Bonita Springs at 10530 Wilson Street, just south of the Imperial River.

The Grand Opening will feature samples, door prizes, and the opportunity to meet and chat with Chef Sandy and owners, Ben and Lori Nelson. “If you haven’t been to the Cafe yet, this is a great opportunity to try it,” stated Chef Sandy. “We’ll have tastings of items on the menu including the house specialty, Grandpa’s Gator Cakes.” Free coffee samples will also be offered during the Grand Opening. The Café features Grounds for Change Organic Fair-Trade Coffee and uses Eco-Products. There are many organic and natural items on the menu, including Not Just Breakfast Bars, made fresh daily.

“The weather has been beautiful and has made the deck a favorite place to dine and relax,” states Lori Nelson. “The Café has become a gathering place for neighbors, friends, and visitors, and we are pleased to see such a sense of community here.“ Free Wifi is also available at the Café. “It’s such a comfortable place to enjoy a great smoothie while browsing the morning news online and checking my email. A great way to start the day!” exclaimed Vicki Meyer Manz, a regular at the Café.
