EAGLE i: Mel’s edges St. Mark’s

Extend its hold on second place

The City Men’s Softball League leaders each won to keep the standings close.

The big game was Almost Famous Mel’s strengthening its hold on second place by edging St. Mark’s, 19-18.

League-leading Cocomo’s slammed Joey’s Pizza, 26-2 and DaVinci’s downed Capt. Brien’s, 18-6.

Eric Nagel, Justin Hanna, JP Nachef, Pat McGuire, and Greg St. Amour slammed out three hits each and Jason Berning had two hits, including a home-run for Mel’s.

For St. Mark’s, Tim Dillingham knocked out four hits, including a home run, Donnie Montroy and Rick Hanscom had three hits each and Mark Canaday, Patrick Baldwin, and Cory Geddis added two hits each.

DaVinci’s was led by Mike Radlovacki, Mark Feola Jr., Bobby Natale Jr. and Joe DiSciullo with two hits each. Capt. Brien’s Liam Dillon knocked out three hits, while Luke Vergo had two hits.

Cocomo’s unleashed a hitting barrage in its win over Joey’s.

Scott Gibbs and Nike Watkins slammed out four hits each, Neal and Wes Alberry knocked out three hits each, with Wes delivering a home run and Rich Busch, Curt Withoff, Dave Rice, Sean Shea and Brian Day added two hits each, with Day blasting a grand slam home run.

League standings show Cocomo’s at 9-1, Mel’s, 8-2, St. Mark’s, 6-3, Da Vinci’s, 6-4, Nacho Mama’s, 2-7, Joey’s Pizza and Capt. Brien’s each 2-8.
