Lely athletes give insights on all-strar status

Lely's Gabby Lopez and Paarker Ayers write ...

Gabby Lopez and Parker Ayers more than lived up to expectations for Lely High this year.

Both were named Class 4A players of the year by the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, the first time for Lely athletes in the same season.

Lopez set a school record of 40 goals this season, adding 20 assists. She also has the school record of 99 total goals over four seasons.

Ayers, a 6-6 center, averaged 16 points a game, leading the Lely basketball team to the district championship and the Elite Eight in the state 4A playoffs. He led the Trojans in scoring with 427 points and rebounding with 271. Ayers added 24 assists, 37 steals and 51 blocked shots.

The Eagle asked them to write about their feats, which they have done in today’s issue.
