Open letter to City Council and administration

Why are Marco Islanders not allowed separate meters for water used inside the house and outside the house?

Where I lived previously, this was the case. It is also the case in Miami-Dade County, but not on Marco Island. Why?

Why is my (future) sewer usage based upon the voluminous amounts of water that my landscape and pool use, but never enter the sewer?

Is this not blatant discrimination? How would my water usage compare to a hotel’s water usage or that of a condo when considering landscape usage percentages? I suspect that there is a very great disparity. For that matter, what if I am gone for five or six months and my only water usage is irrigation, yet I still pay for sewer services? Something is just plain wrong here.

I am openly asking our city leaders for an explanation. I am very interested. I hope that you are.

Thank you.

john...the two meter scenario is one that is used in alot of places..even in birmingham, ala...i installed a separate meter for my mother's lawn sprinkler...the city of hoover bills her separately on a quarterly basis....this is not high tech stuff....but i doubt seriously if it will ever happen on marco because the city wants to gouge citizens and take care of hotels and condos.

Like everything on marco,if it was announced they are considering to add a secondary meter to all properties containing a irrigation system, the cost of this would be passed to all residents then the cave dwellers would be fired up digging out their torches and rejuvenated for another round of boo hoos and whaa whaa ranting about how unfair it is. after all everything should be free for them or they don't want it!

John, the corruptors on Marco aren't making nuth'n from us being able to use our septic tanks to water our lawns. Our local gov't is in the Utilities biz, remember?.. they sell water.
