MARCO ISLAND — Marco's spending cap has kept the city fiscally responsible for years. Is it legal? The Ad Hoc Charter Review Committee plans to discuss varying opinions of the legality of a city limit on spending.
The charter review committee will be hearing from City Attorney Alan Gabriel about cases and laws relating to a city spending cap.
Marco Island’s spending cap was written in the charter to limit spending from one year to the next by up to 3 percent plus a cost of living adjustment. The committee meets 10 a.m. Monday at Mackle Park, 1361 Andalusia Terrace
