Eagle i: Top 3 hold their spots in city softball

The top three teams maintained their standings by winning games in the City Men’s Softball League.

Here are the results in order of games played.

Almost Famous Mel’s, 14, St. Mark’s, 12

Mel’s Brad Frazer slapped out three hits, while Justin Hanna and Pat McGuire added two hits each in the win.

St. Mark’s Mark Canady, Tim Dillingham and Patrick Baldwin hammered out three hits each, while Lee Vanderjagt and Chad Clawson chipped in with two hits each.

DaVinci’s, 10, Capt. Brien’s, 9

Capt. Brien’s nearly pulled off the upset, but DaVinci’s squeezed by to hold third place in the standings.

Bobby Natale, Jr. and Mark Feola, Jr. knocked out three hits each and Damien Shadrick and Joe DiSciullo added two hits each for DaVinci’s.

Capt. Brien’s offense came from Scott Ryan with three hits and Kyle Previtt and Kevin Sullivan had two hits each.

Cocomo’s, 14, Joey’s Pizza, 1

Joey’s Pizza lost its sizzle when it came up against the best team in the league. Mike Watkins walloped three hits, while Kevin Hennings and Sean Shea slapped out two each.

Joey’s quiet bats were led by Zach Luetkemeyer and Tony Oliverio with one hit each.

The standings show, Cocomo’s, 15-1, Mel’s, 12-4, DaVinci’s, 10-6, St. Mark’s, 8-7, Joey’s Pizza, 6-10, Capt. Brien’s, 3-13 and Nacho Mama’s, 2-13.

Games on Thursday include Cocomo’s and Nacho Mama’s at 6:15 p.m., St. Mark’s and DaVinci’s at 7:30 and Mel’s and Capt. Brien’s at 8:45.
